How is stump grinding priced?

Diameter, species, root flare, access, number of stumps, desired depth, and chip removal affect pricing.

Will the tree grow back?

Grinding removes the main stump but some species can send shoots from remaining roots. Complete root removal is a different and more disruptive process.

Can I plant a new tree in the same spot?

Often it is better to plant nearby because roots and wood remain below ground. Discuss depth, soil replacement, and the new planting plan before work begins.

Plan the Finished Area Before Grinding

The intended use of the space helps determine an appropriate grinding depth and cleanup plan. Tell the estimator whether the area will become lawn, a planting bed, a walkway, or part of a construction project. Also identify irrigation, landscape lighting, gas lines, drainage components, or other underground features near the stump.

Access and cleanup affect the estimate

• Estimate stump diameter at the widest point
• Note surface roots, rocks, fencing, and nearby structures
• Ask whether grindings will be hauled away or left for reuse
